TRADITIONAL OLIVE OIL SOAPS

The making of high quality soaps using locally produced olive products, has been our family tradition for over 150 years.

Processes Used:

The oil is processed in heated tabs for approximately one week. It is then cast in open moulds to produce the so called "stamped soap bar" (as opposed to the conventional "pressed soap"). Finally it is placed on wooden racks to cure for 3-4 months.

Only the basic ingredients required for saponification are used in the process: lye (caustic soda), sea salt (sodium chloride) and water, plus natural food dye to mark the surface for stamping and cutting. No other ingredients are used unless specifically stated.

Due to the nature of the process, it is not possible to give accurate figures on the consistency of the final product. However, the fatty acid content of our soap after curing, is estimated -80% and the total consistency of the product can be expressed as follows:
Saponified Oil -86%
Water - 14% /
Sea Salt traces
Foreign matter of olive origin traces

The main types of our soaps are:

"Green soap" made of crude (unprocessed) olive pomace oil '. It comains olive chlorophile, hence the green colour of fi:esh soap, which gradually fades as the soap dries and matures. Although this product was mainly used on household chores (especially clothes), it was most reputed for its disinfecting and healing properties on skin infections, allergies, bed sores, strained muscles etc.

- "Asper green soap" is a stronger formula of the "green soap" with Ii:ee alkali in its
mass (increased pH) for effective clothes washing.

- "White olive -;palm kernel soap" is made of pure virgin olive oil 2 (lampante grade) with the addition of eatable palm kernel oil (-20%) and is used as a gentle personal cleanser (face and body) with good lathering performance.

- "White olive oil soap" is as the white soap above, without palm kernel oil. It has · limited lathering ability and is better recommended in use with soft water.

For other types of traditional soap upon request.

All our soaps are:

100% vegetarian and 100% biodegradable.

obtained by extraction from the ground flesh and pits of the olives after pressing.

obtained from the fruit of the olive tree, solely by mechanical or other physical means under
conditions, particularly thermal conditions, that do not lead to alterations in the oil and which has not undergone any treatment other than washing, decantation, centrifigation and filtration.
