ARCHITECTURE

This grand entrance to this mansion will last 2 more years. Then it will be rubble.

The architecture is very unique in Kerkyra. Influenced by many nationalities like Byzantines, French, English, Venetians among others clearly shown the wealth and the grandeur of the island's buildings.

The simple architecture of the Aegean islands has its own splendour. The simple colours of white and blue make those islands quite unique but nothing could be compared with the beauty of the marble or stone door and window surrounds, big thick timber doors, marble staircases, stone wells, etc.. The magnificent colours of an era gone by could be still admired in the worn out stucco wall, doors and windows, etc.

All these is complimented by the evergreen olive groves, Cyprus trees and 1000's of different kinds and colours of spring and summer wild flowers. This unique colours explosion can be seen especially between March and June.

DOOR, WINDOW AND ENTRANCE ARCHITECTURE

Some work has started here. It is probably own by Germans or British..

This stone entrance has a carved sign saying it was restored in 1802.

To remake this stonework today will cost a fortune. Agros the main city of St. George council has a great number of magnificent stonework examples of Corfian architecture. Below is collection of examples...

Churches and monasteries display once again the grandeur of their architecture and these two entrances at Agios Spyridon and in Agraphoi, churches are good examples.
